Why we built this

Why we built this

Therapy is vocational work. We wanted a tool therapists could use freely, where the data clearly belongs to them. Many practice-management tools are well-built and well-supported, but in some of them the operator either holds the encryption key or stores notes in a form their staff may be able to read — that depends on the specific product's design, and a careful reader of the privacy policy can usually tell. Notes In Confidence takes the other approach: your notes are encrypted in your own browser with a password only you know, and synced to your own Google Drive in encrypted form. Nobody else holds your key.

Who we are

Therapists. We built this for ourselves first, a tool that fit the way we actually work, and then opened it up so others in the profession could use it too.

The limits

The app is free to use. Because it is free, it does not come with the kind of support you would expect from a paid monthly product. If something goes wrong, you are unlikely to receive any support, and there is no guarantee we will be able to help, though you can browse our help articles. We have worked hard to keep the app simple and to give you safety nets, such as local encryption, exportable backups, and Google Drive sync, but nothing is foolproof, and there is always a chance that data could be lost. If that trade-off does not feel right for the work you do, we genuinely encourage you to look at a paid service that comes with the support and guarantees you need. A few we would point you toward:
